Polar Scope Align is a convenient and accurate tool that calculates the position of Polaris or σ Octantis in your Polar Scope reticle. It allows for quick and precise polar alignment, making it perfect for astrophotography enthusiasts and astronomers alike. Unlike many other apps, Polar Scope Align takes into account atmospheric refraction, ensuring accurate results that align with precise scientific software rather than simplistic polar alignment apps.
In addition to its alignment capabilities, Polar Scope Align also offers the functionality to measure and correct a centering error of the reticle. The app provides a wide selection of supported reticles, including popular brands like iOptron, Astro-Physics, Takahashi, Orion, Skywatcher, Celestron, Meade, and many more.
South Hemisphere users can benefit from the PoleMaster help view feature. Furthermore, Polar Scope Align offers a user-friendly interface and a red-color night mode for optimal viewing conditions during nighttime observations.
The app includes other valuable features such as automatic time/location settings, moon phase information, databases of Messier, Caldwell, and Bright stars, as well as access to color images from the DSS database.
While the free version of Polar Scope Align is ad-supported, users can upgrade to the Pro version for an ad-free experience and additional features. The Pro version allows for manual entry of time/date and location, zoomable reticle view, daytime polar alignment tool, alt-az alignment error display for specific mounts, polar alignment in non-zero positions, lunar calendar with rise/set times, bubble level and compass heading tools, GPS accuracy & elevation data, alternative night mode colors, control over light settings (red/white/LED), control of WiFi-enabled iOptron mounts, over 30 calculators useful for observing and astrophotography purposes. It also includes a world astro-weather report feature, water vapor satellite images, a list of visible ISS and bright satellite passes, and named star lists for iOptron and Meade LX200.
